Its mission is to protect life, property, and the environment by delivering exceptional all-hazard emergency services, public education, and safety programs. The department responds to a high volume of calls annually, emphasizing preparedness and community resilience.
Responsibilities
- Responding to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and other all-hazard events.
- Providing basic and advanced life support services, including emergency medical response and decontamination.
- Conducting fire suppression for structural and wildland fires.
- Performing fire prevention inspections, plan checks, and issuing incident reports.
- Managing specialized teams for swift water rescue, hazardous materials (Type 1 certified), and urban search and rescue.
- Overseeing training, operations from 14 fire stations, and public education on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
- Collaborating with regional partners for large-scale incidents and maintaining equipment for 24/7 readiness.
