The Planning Division of the Community & Economic Development Department is dedicated to creative urban planning and design that fosters a livable, high-quality environment where residents can live, work, and play. It guides development to respect community diversity, land use, and overall city vision, ensuring sustainable growth aligned with the General Plan.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and processing land use applications, including zoning changes, plot plans, and conditional use permits.
- Managing the city’s General Plan, community plans, and consistency zoning for orderly development.
- Conducting design reviews, building permits, and environmental assessments.
- Enforcing zoning codes and regulations to maintain community standards.
- Facilitating public input on development proposals and long-term planning.
- Coordinating with other agencies for infrastructure and economic alignment.
- Providing guidance on building safety, site plans, and compliance with state laws.
